We are excited to be running a two-day introductory workshop to explore the provision of vocational rehabilitation for people with neurological conditions.
Facilitated by Joanne Hurford, Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist, and Dr Emma Cameron, Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist. This workshop will provide taught presentations, practical workshops and interactive discussions that address the following areas:
- Review the evidence base to support practice, defining vocational rehabilitation, interventions and efficacy
- Consider relevant legislation and government drivers to support work as a health outcome and understand how the Equality Act (2010) may help people with disabilities in the workplace.
- Use of case studies and application of the biopsychosocial model to assess and manage neurological conditions within the work context.
- Consider ‘invisible’ and ‘subtle’ disabilities (cognitive, cognitive-communication, mood disturbance and fatigue difficulties) and how this impact work.
- Gain practical tips on identifying, communicating and negotiating reasonable adjustments with employers.
