Introduction to Facial Rehabilitation

The course is for physiotherapists and speech therapists interested in facial rehabilitation. Places will be limited to 50 participants online and 20 face to face for the practical element.

We are excited to be running this highly popular course again and have an excellent line-up of presenters who will be facilitating taught presentations, practical workshops and interactive discussions.

 

Course outline: This one and a half day course will focus on facial rehabilitation for people with facial weakness following damage to the cortico-bulbar pathway, the facial nucleus and/or the facial nerve and its branches, reviewing aspects of neurophysiology and anatomy, treatment interventions and outcome measurement. The first day (Friday 1st March) will be online lectures. The 2nd day (Saturday 2nd March morning) will be F2F including practical sessions and patient workshops. Applicants can either attend the virtual only day or the virtual and practical days.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the course delegates will have increased knowledge and skills in the evidence-based assessment and treatment of patients’ with facial palsy and will:

 

§ Have reviewed the neurophysiology and anatomy of facial function

§ Be able to relate pathology to clinical features in individuals with facial weakness.

§ Have an increased understanding of the rationale behind aspects of facial rehabilitation interventions and tools to assess effectiveness

§ Have practiced therapeutic handling skills for assessment and treatment intervention in persons with facial dysfunction

£120 for a virtual only -Friday 1st March 2024

£190 for virtual and practical half day -Friday 1st March and Saturday 2nd March am 2024
