Progressive Neurological Diseases for SLTs, Getting Grips with the complex spectrum of motor -20th September 2021
Progressive Neurological Diseases for SLTs
Getting to grips with the complex spectrum of motor and cognitive presentations.
This course is tailored to meet the needs of both student and qualified Speech and Language Therapists either working, or aiming to work, within the field of progressive neurology.
Background
The life-expectancy of people living with progressive neurological conditions is increasing. As a result, Speech and Language Therapists are required to meet the needs of an increasingly complex caseload of patients living with combined motor and cognitive impairments. As our understanding of underlying motor, language and cognitive deficits increases we are better able to deliver evidence-based interventions.
This course is designed to help you get to grips with the complex spectrum of motor and cognitive presentations in progressive neurological diseases. We aim to enhance your understanding of underlying neurological conditions to enable you to identify the tools to assess and manage these challenges in the clinical setting.
The agenda will be supported fully by practical case examples and patient case-studies. There will be opportunities for open dialogue with speakers and time to network with colleagues working with similar neurological conditions.
We hope to run this course in person but will switch to virtual if circumstances dictate.
