Introduction to Occupational Therapy in Neurological Practice, An Occupational Performance Approach 5th -6th Oct 2017

Target Audience: Only open to Qualified Occupational Therapists who have less than 18 months experience in a Neurological setting and want an introductory level course in neurology

Learning Objectives:
• By the end of the course you will have increased knowledge and skills in the assessment and treatment of patients with neurological conditions using a functional framework. Sessions will focus on:
• The theoretical and treatment approaches for physical and cognitive impairments impacting on occupational performance including neuro-anatomy and neuro-plasticity.
• Awareness of the role of the environment and psychological issues (including functional neurological disorders) and their influence on assessment within an acute and a rehabilitation setting.
• Introducing the importance of work and the role of vocational rehabilitation.
• Consolidating knowledge and skills gained through practical workshops and video case studies including seating and positioning and upper limb treatment approaches.
